Dear Agnos
Arlie J. Hoover
*Dear Agnos* is a book aimed at anyone wishing to explore the validity of Christian beliefs and learn how to defend them in conversations with others. While it will be a particularly valuable addition to the libraries of those interested in apologetics, it is a book that every Christian should read. It also makes an excellent gift for individuals seeking answers to their questions. Few books possess such universal appeal.
This is undoubtedly due to the unique format Dr. Arlie Hoover chose for his book: a series of letters addressed to the titular character. Each letter guides the recipient a step further in understanding the Christian faith. The highly direct epistolary style draws us into the dialogue between the two individuals, only for us to realize—before long—that we have become participants in the conversation ourselves. And although the author cannot hear our questions and responses, we will often be surprised by how accurately he has anticipated them.
